About this service
What do you get if you cross a thought with a lightbulb? A bright idea.
Having turned 35 years old in 2020, The Bloomsburg Children’s Museum located in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania is a non-profit corporation and is run by staff, volunteer committees, and a Board of Directors. Their mission is “to enrich the lives of people in the region by fostering a lifelong love of learning through enjoyable interactive programs and exhibits that bring out the imagination of every child and the child in every visitor and provide hands-on, informal educational experiences to children of all ages…”
The Opportunity
What do you get if you cross a thought with a lightbulb? A bright idea. And that’s what the director of the museum had; they reached out to 3D Sculpture Worx to create and install an extra large brain to be displayed on top of their upcoming exhibit that opened on October 8, 2021. This opportunity was a no brainer!! We thought this was a great way to not only display our capabilities in the Central PA area, but contribute to the artistic and growing minds of children!
The Process
We started with an inspiration photo sent to us by the customer and then created 3D digital model of a brain and then scaled it up to approximately 7.5’ x 5’ x 4’. It then went to the 3D CNC Mill where the intricate grooves and curves of the brain were sculpted in two separate halves. The finishing touches of sanding, coating, and painting were completed in about two days and then it was secured to a base for transportation. Wa La! A gigantic brain!
